About Hensel 3000

My name is Frank Hensel. I grew up and still live in Gelsenkirchen, Germany (the so-called 'town of 1000 fires' then) in a typical Ruhrgebiet working class background. Coal-mines, coking plants, steel mills and chemical industry darkened the sky and the mind and thus I started to read science fiction extensively and listen to music intensively. Right from the start I fell utterly in love with space and time and travelling through it, and it still has a huge impact on my work. At the beginning of the 90's I found musicians good and patient enough for a big serious project: the trio called The Enemy Within. For the next two years we played all over Germany and were local heros in the Ruhrgebiet. We recorded a self produced album in 1993 called Pulp but due to famous 'musically differences' dissolved in 1994. I found the time to write two science fiction musicals: the rock musical The Libuda Conspiracy and Space Patrol (based on the German TV series from the 60's 'Raumpatrouille' - see my top friends). 'Too far out stories for the usual friend of musicals' and 'too expensive to produce' was the experts' opinion. Both never made it to the stage to day. Apart from some sound installations for museums and music for short films I composed and produced the music for the highly acclaimed CD-Rom 'Industrial Heritage Trail'. Under the name of hensel3000 I have thrown out 9 CDs of electronic music since then.

My new love is the MyOuterSpace project . For MyOuterSpace Vol. 1 I had the honour and privilege to record the track 'berliner schule' with one of my musical heroes, Harald Grosskopf, the legendary German drummer who played (among hundreds of others) on the Klaus Schulze 'Moondawn' album. You can download 'berliner schule' in much better sound quality than on this site on the MyOuterSpace website for free. http://www.myspace.com/myouterspace3000 or http://www.myouterspace.net

For MyOuterSpace Vol. 2 I had the honour and privilege to record the track 'Confetti check A ok' (based on the UFO episode of the same name) with Alan Davey on bass (Ex-Hawkwind, now with Gunslinger) and with the outstandingly gifted German female singer Gabi Bott on vocals. Be sure to hear more from her in the future here. Here you find the short version of 'Confetti check'. You can download the long version in much better sound quality on the MyOuterSpace website for free. http://www.myspace.com/myouterspace3000 or http://www.myouterspace.net

KAsteroid Killer has been around for a long time but it wasn't until the year 2005 the name could be heard for the first time. The early work of Asteroid Killer makes the foundation of what to expect in the future. Melodies, rythms and synthetic sounds is the trademarks and will always dominate the Asteroid Killer sound.

It is in 1998 that he starts to be interested in the House Music. He goes to Ibiza that Summer, where he discovers the night life through the famous parties of the SPACE, AMNESIA, PACHA and other clubs on the Island. Back in France, after such a new musical experience, he manages to get all the equipment to be a DJ and starts his musical exploration, in search of his own style. RAF FENDER is discovered by J.L. Caron (Fluid nights) at the beginning of 2000, through a CD and he calls him on Saturday 27th May 2000, where he is invited to play for the famous Fluid night (QUEEN) only 1 year after his beginnings as a DJ, but with a real asset as a drummer and percussionist (in a group playing rock influence) since he was 12. Jean Luc is rapidly convinced of his efficiency and soon after, he leaves him to look after the FLUID residence which is under his responsibilty ever since (Body Bumper) with great talent and for the pleasure of the Club members. Being resident at the QUEEN, he plays regularly with Michael Kaiser, who allows him to mix with numerous international DJs , such as John Mollet, GuyWilliams, Miguel P, Steve Pitron, Gonzalo, Dj Paulette, or even Gilles Massicotte. With the Body Bumper nights, Pink 75 (with David Maltese, Follies Pigalle) and Man Machine (La Scène) he gives free rein to his passion, distillating sharp mixes of iberic and London influence, resolutely pumping between progressive, tribal and hard house, and at the same time adaptating himself to all kind of publics. His influences at the international level : Steve Lawler, Peter Rauhofer, Victor Calderone, Seb Fontaine, Danny Tanaglia. Lately in the production business, and in accordance with his musical style, several projects (alone and with various colleagues) are under preparation with the next coming out of maxis

ELLA BLAME - LAST VIEW

http://www.ella-blame.com/

http://www.myspace.com/ellablame

Ella Blame, currently living in southern Wisconsin, comes from a family of musicians and was already singing by the age of 3. Every day during her childhood, she heard music almost around the clock - symphonic, operatic, chamber and twelve-tone music, jazz of all styles, R&B, soul, funk, rock and pop. From the age of 6 to 17, Ella took courses in violin and was supposed to become a violin virtuoso. However, at the age of 17 she studied painting, earning a Master-of-Arts degree. Ella has an extremely wide vocal range that covers the entire baritone, tenor and alto ranges, and exceeds the upper limit of the soprano range.  With her vocal cords, she can produce sounds that many people consider having been generated by a synthesizer or by post-processing equipment. However, Ella can produce these sounds without using a microphone. Ella is collaborating with several electronic musicians and multi-instrumentalists from around the globe (USA, Canada, Japan, India, and Germany), especially Michael D. Temple and Shinji Imai a.k.a. "mode complex".

New CD - BITTER TEARS This new CD contains 11 tracks with a total playback time of 48:35 minutes and a 12-page booklet with all song lyrics. Click here to buy "Bitter Tears" from CD Baby! Now also offering digital downloads! Price - US$13.99

ALBA BEAT - The City Shines

http://www.arkade.com/Alba_Beat

http://www.myspace.com/albabeat

I'm Gary Taylor, an Icelandic / English hybrid, based in Birmingham / Reykjavik, I started making music from an early age, inspired by the original music of the time, Punk, New Wave, Metal, Reggae, Electro, Pop, Disco, Funk, playing drums on cardboard boxes and tins writing lyrics and singing with friends in my parents Garage (we all wanted to make a break in to music scene even back then in the late 70's), from there on in I played on whatever Organ, Home keyboard, Piano, i could lay my hands on, always dreaming of Synthesizers and Studios and being rich and famous (Not the case now i may add), over some time i made music with my friends at home on simple old School Yamaha and Casio keyboards (you know the ones with a button for Drums and Fills), we also added taped recordings of cool phrases from Video Films of the day (yes it was the 80's and its called Sampling and Editing now), this was the start of my creative approach to music, i started DJ'ing around this period, Scratching, Mixing up Tapes and general madness on the Turntables which i still involve in my music from time to time.  Then came the 90's and i worked and played hard and bought myself my first Home Studio, i worked under the name of Solid Dawn and built up a good back catalogue of ideas and Demos all the time working harder on my DJ live set performances, this is where I really learnt what music was all about, People, Gatherings, inspiration, new technology, attitudes and different approaches to making music, for me yet another perfect building block ; ). When the Millennium crashed in i started teaching myself more and more musical skill, everything about the musical process I could possibly find out about, I also went back to college to learn more about Music Production and Engineering, now the time is right for people to hear my Music and Sounds, with the added confidence and mobility the Internet brings i've started my Alba Beat project up, you see a form of it here and now on Myspace.

So there we have some of my Musical Journeys in a nutshell, there really is so much much more to tell you, that said I'm sorry this Biog didn't last that long or not, I do hope you will enjoy my Musical creations here, and i will stay in touch as often as possible, prepared, Peace for now, Gary, Alba Beat x.

ALBA BEAT "From silence and then..." will be released Autumn 2008.

MACHINE BOY - JAMIE

http://www.machineboy.co.uk

http://www.myspace.com/machineboyk

About Machine Boy ::

Machine Boy have been creating electronic music for a number of years, Machine Boy music has been
used by various tv & production companies including BBC, Chan 4 & 5, Central/Carlton, Chilli Media, Black Diamond & in the USA by the likes of MTV.

Machine Boys albums are now available to buy at ITUNES. The ep called DEPRESSION EP thru Incubator Records Includes the huge lyrical/vocal talent of USA Seattle based poet/artist Lorian Elbert (RIP), giving the Machine Boy sound a whole new dark (surreal) edge.

The story goes on seeing one of Lorians poem books Machine Boy knew these words would work perfectly with his soundscapes. Kind words & airplay from DJ legend/icon John Peel (RIP)...god how much do we miss Johns shows ! ;-( more recently airplay for Machine Boys 'Action Figures' from the likes of top radio one jock Huw Stephens and airplay, positive vibes from BB6music's Tom Robinson plus continued support from Gill Mills TOP podcast iCast and Machine Boy being included in BBC Radio One's TOP unsigned podcast have all helped build the Machine Boy fanbase.

Machine Boy also create animated video's to promote his music, the first being a video for the track 'Depression' and the video instantly picked up airplay on the mighty MTV, more recent animated promo's such as 'Action Figures' have also been given airplay from MTV2 in various programmes such as '120 minutes' etc. Serious airplay from tv, including MTV Real World, Road Rules and various extreme sports programs/films has only made the whole Machine Boy project more mouthwatering.

Machine Boy have also been doing work with producer/writer Ian Wallman (B15 Project) and a song for the 'more sonic adventures...' album has been co-written with Ian, titled 'Despair'.  The full album is now available and goes again (as the ep) under the name of 'Machine Boy featuring Lorian Elbert' and has the full title of MORE SONIC ADVENTURES FROM MACHINE BOY FEATURING LORIAN ELBERT.

Machine Boy's latest releases are all now available again from iTunes, incl. the album BUILDING A BETTER BOY plus the ACTION FIGURES single and the very latest single release BUILDING A BETTER BOY.

GIVING FOR THE CALL - I NEVER WANT TO GO

http://www.myspace.com/givingforthecall

More than ten years ago, walking in the school's courtyard with my friend Riccardo, I began to talk about some songs of Heaven 17 : "train of love in motion", "let me go" and "trouble". Riccardo talked to me about Erasure ("sometimes"; "stop"; "drama") and Depeche Mode ("photographic"; "blasphemous rumours" and many more). We had same musical taste, interests (tennis, soccer, science fiction ) and hated the same matters (matematics and physics). One day, during the interval, we decided to create a group, trying to emulate bands like Depeche Mode and Erasure. Unfortunately we did not have suitable instruments, except a BONTEMPI organ (that still have!) and an acoustic guitar: not ideal in order to compose music electronic... Thus we went to buy a cheap KAWAY keyboard and 2 used Roland synthesizers: D50 (marvelous) and JX-8P (a dinosaur, in our opinion). After some months we took a nice GEM S3 Turbo, a KAWAY KC-10 Spectra and an arranger (GEM WK 2). We recorded music into a FOSTEX X-26 multitracker. We had the essential in order to begin. The band assumed various names: I can remember "Emotional detachment", "Style of music" and "Winter's heart" . We had a great enthusiasm: obviously, we dedicated more time to music then to study. We made some concerts for our friends and realised some demo-tapes (gone lost by now ). Unfortunately, as often happens, reality upsets the plans... We chose different University and, after a long pause, we broke in 1998. Some years later, I decided to buy new machines (a microkorg and a KORG Electribe R mkII) to play again. This solo project was only a short parenthesis. When I met again Riccardo, we formed a new band and bought some used synthesizers (NOVATION Nova II, KORG M3, KORG MS2000, WALDORF Micro Q, YAMAHA CS1X), another dear D50 and 2 ROLAND drum machines (MC 303 & D2). With a new name ("Giving For The Call", taken from the language of Stock exchange), in september 2005 we started working on a new musical project. In 2007 we began to change composition method, passing gradually to Vst instruments. Currently we're trying to find the right way between new technologies and tradition of melodic synthpop. --- Written by Maurizio

ALIEN SKIN - SAVIOUR

http://www.alienskinmusic.com

http://www.myspace.com/alienskinmusik

BIO: George Pappas, a.k.a. Alien Skin, is the long-time keyboardist with legendary ‘80s Australian band Real Life whose Send Me An Angel is still a regular on radio playlists all over the world.  After a number of albums and world tours with Real Life, covering the US, Europe and Australia, he has morphed into Alien Skin.  As Alien Skin he has released the debut album Don’t Open Till Doomsday in 2008.

Click to order!

"Do you believe in heaven above, Do you believe in love?" sing Real Life in the smash 80's classic Send Me An Angel. Now Alien Skin, aka George Pappas, long time keyboardist with the renowned Australian band, has finally released his debut album. He doesn't attempt to answer the puzzle but creates his own universe in Don't Open Till Doomsday. The 10 songs here present an atmosphere of introspective electronic melancholia. Infectious melodies underpin the dark, gothic ambience which is often sparse and minimal, at times opening up to a lush hit of light that lures you forward. With subject matter ranging from estranged sci-fi love, to Jacob's Ladder, to Hiroshima, the music confirms a solemn monochrome world outside. It's best listened to and savoured as a whole.

Don't Open Till Doomsday is music for astronauts, aliens and all marginal beings living at the frontiers. Friends of Martin Gore and Depeche Mode would not feel unwelcome here. So, what exactly does the album sound like? Close your eyes and have a listen.
This body of work further establishes his signature sound of darkly melodic, lyrical songs best befitting the description: "
A kaleidoscope of electronic melancholia - music for astronauts, aliens and all marginal beings living at the frontiers."

Fact sheet – Alien Skin

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Current CD: Don’t Open Till Doomsday (2008)

Members: George Pappas: vocals, electronics, composer

Record Label: A Different Drum, USA

Points of Note: Keyboardist/writer with world renowned ‘80s Australian band, Real Life, best loved for smash hits like Send Me An Angel and Catch Me I’m Falling.

Testimonials

‘Don’t Open Till Doomsday’ isn't an album that can be listened to once and then put on the shelf. It requires thought, attention and respect until becoming whatever tale the listener has been inspired to believe it means. It's the canvas for a film in somebody's head that they create while listening to it. – Kage Alan, Michigan

For fans of electronic music the release of George Pappas’ debut solo album under the name Alien Skin could not be more welcome. The soundscapes on ‘Don’t Open Till Doomsday’ are wonderfully moody and excellent vocals capture the best of Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore without sounding like a clone. Mid-tempo, ethereal, hypnotic aural goodness which I cannot recommend enough. Brilliant work and it is so good to hear new material from this unique artist! – Paul Fucito, Washington DC

Reading your words, while listening again, is such a great sensation, where time doesn't exist, a perfect moment, of rest, of emotion, rare!. I listen to a lot of music, and I can feel when something is different; the emotion that I'm searching for, I can recognize it and feel it, so clearly, sometimes... – Pain Theatre, France

KickRaTT - PLANETZ

http://www.myspace.com/kickrattmusic

Planet Z - a computer sequence directing two AKAI s900 samplers and the e-mu Percussion module. Real time changes where done hands on with the units rather than through a midi-filter controller, which would have been better had I used one at the time. No actual keyboard was used in this composition and it's a one take recording.

Hello, my name is Michael and thanks for hanging out here on my music page. This page represents more of a solo endeavour rather than a band effort. I was formally taught by Bob Conti for about 8 years, a pretty renown jazz and classical guitarist of Florida. I have been greatly influenced by most all forms of music. From garage bands to mainstream acts, symphonic orchestras to computer compositions, music is the best & has always been a creative pursuit in my life. An outlet for the ideas that get trapped in my head. When creativity comes at you, you usually didn't see it coming and all of a sudden you are all into something. I am searching for something new, a new sound for a new song. You have to tear everything down sometimes and look at the pieces scattered about. It is usually in this mess that you find what you have been looking for.

Recently, I have been redefining my home recording studio. Stocking it with new synthesizers, guitar equipment, pre-amps and effects, making a small investment in my own creative future. Please refer to the MYSPACE BLOG KICKRATT BASICS for descriptions to the myspace & soundclick browser player’s songs & for all of the techheads enjoy the BLOG MUSICTECH - SYNTH POWER for a surface breakdown of the various components I use in my music rig "KickRaTT".

BIK - SUNRISE

My first experience of electronic music was spinning around to Popcorn by Hot Butter as an infant. It wasn't until I heard Kraftwerks Man Machine on my mums old gramophone that I realised that there was so much more out there. Listening to Landcapes Einstein a go go and Ultravox's Vienna at my mate Jez's house only served to intensify the need to hear more, and there was so much more.....

Subduxtion is the solo project of Christophe G. aka The Post-Human Cyborg - afrofuturist, anarchist, composer, deviant, multi-instrumentalist, sound-artist and vegan. I am originally from Los Angeles (Leimert Park), Ca., now living and working in Chicago, Illinois. Formerly the keyboardist/bassist for Impulse, D.O.D., Wardrobe Cathedral, Immaculate Corrosion and Drug Of Choice. I also contributed synths and programming to Los Angeles based industrial/goth rock group Die My Darling. Appearing on their debut CD 'Virulent' (Trisol 2002).. I first discovered music through the clarinet, playing the instrument from the age of six years old. I began studying the piano at age ten, studying both classical and jazz musics and later learned the tenor sax, flute and oboe. I also spent two years studying orchestration in college. I think of myself as an "abstract sound sculptor". Sound sculpting is more about creating a mood. It's about creating music that provokes the imagination. I released my first record with Impulse, a four-song EP of electro-funk. 2000 saw the release of the industrial/acid-house/rap collision titled 'Warhol Machine'12" followed that same year by 'The Dream Is the Drug' 12" featuring Tequila Mockingbird. Since that time I have continued to release a large amount of music both as a solo artist (Re: dux tion, subduxtion and FluiD) and collaborator (with Black Saturn, Selbst-Morder and John 3:16) on various independent labels around the world. Encompassing a multitude of styles and influences - techno, jazz, noise, classical avant-garde, hip-hop, psychedelia, metal, dub, early industrial and ambient. As a remixer I have manipulated and re-constructed songs for Ganymede, Fr/action, Heat From A Deadstar, Blood Into Water, One Dead Fuck, Worms of the Earth and DisinVectant.

Alrealon Music is an independent label dedicated to electronic music. We support only what we love and there is no concession to this rule. We do not have any preconceived ideas on any sort: no matter which type of electronic music touches us; whatever we love, we promote. That's why you will find here everything from Dub to Industrial, from Ambient to Drone. We created Alrealon Music to make room for inspired and inspiring music.

ONE MOMENT - EXPLODING BOMB

http://www.myspace.com/onemomentband

One Moment are a 3 piece band that have a sound that can be best described as gritty dark Electro pop. The band originally formed in Grantham during the early 80's when they played on the live circuit mainly around the East Midlands area. Their sound was similiar in style to the electro sounds that were so popular at the time. The band recorded several demos of their songs at local recording studios. However by the summer of 1982 it was all over way too soon as singer John Burgess and Keyboardist Dik Ellis left to form the synth-pop duo The Sleak Pad.
That was it or so it seemed for One Moment until in 2005 and totally out of the blue the band reformed to play a part in The Screaming Egos produced film 'Dead Famous'. Though original vocalist John declined the invitation to reform original keyboardist Richard Shores was back on board with Dik taking over on vocals, completing the trio was Augo on Synth (previously with Dik in The Deep Sect). One Moment were now back on stage for the first time in well over 20 years.
After this the next time One Moment would be heard of was in 2007 when one of there tracks 'Cold Stare' appeared on the Electraparade compilation cd and after a number of favorable reviews the band considered reforming on a more permanant basis.
So in 2008 One Moment are back with a new 3 piece line up, with new member Rice Arnold joining with Dik & Augo to form the latest reincarnation of the band. One Moment also have a new self produced album 'Lowlights' which brings a far more accomplished sound to their brand of Electro Music. The trio will be back out playing live throughout 2008 and will be bringing their music to a whole new audience.

CIRCA - RAINFALL BROTHERS

http://www.myspace.com/circapop

"circa" is the song based synth pop and 80's music influenced side project of "co-ordination." "circa" seemed to be the ideal name for this project as the songs were written and produced anytime between 1994 and now. In fact, some were written in 1994 but never sung until 2005 (when vocal auto tuning software was cheap enough to convince you that I can actually sing).

SKULLY - TROUBLE

http://www.metissemusic.com/

http://www.myspace.com/skullymusic

Skully had his first gig as a DJ at age fourteen. His father was a showband man performing on the big stage so to Skully music was the family way of life. The Showband scene was not for the new generation so Skully followed the electronic path, partnering with many colleagues over the years to deliver their latest brew. Skully earned himself the name "Professor Skully" as testimony to his mastery of the new electronic music art form. Then came a band called "Chapterhouse" which reached the top of the ladder in terms of success picking up all the highest awards in Ireland. But this was not enough for the "Professor" and in frustration at not breaking the world market he took a seven-year retreat from the music business he so dearly loved. He moved to Toulouse, France where he became a teacher of the English language.

Métisse Form In 1997:

Skully knew that something was missing in his music. Coincidentally, many people were talking about this girl with an extraordinary voice that sang at a Cabaret in Toulouse. Skully followed the posters and went to hear Aïda sing. Blown away by her voice, he went away from that gig to write music that he later presented to her. Seriously impressed by what she heard, Aïda agreed to take the time to record a few songs...a mixture of true Celtic electronic wizardry and the beauty of all that is African. There and then they decided to work together and called themselves Métisse...meaning mixture... mixture of black and white, of African and European, of electronic and soul.

Next came the sending of demo tapes to all those record companies who had rejected previous efforts. But this time the answer was yes...and another yes..and another..and another. Every record company now wanted this incredible new cocktail of perfection. With many offers on the table Métisse's first step was to sign with Sony Music Publishing who were so impressed by the music that they offered a worldwide publishing deal to a band who as yet did not have a record deal. Up until now this was unheard of in the industry. Trevor Horn, the famous producer (Seal, "Video KIlled The Radio Star"), suggested that there was no point in tampering with Skully's work in a studio, as it was already perfect coming out of his own home studio and did not need re-mixing.

Then came the "big" deal with Telstar Records which was what Métisse had been holding out for. Next came the big money, the great video shoots, the great market exposure, the exotic locations, limousines, champagne etc. It all seemed so good until it came to a point where the music was becoming the least sacred aspect in a business that was market driven. Telstar were professional and genuinely considered to be one of the best in the music business. Anyway, debate arose over how best to "market" Métisse. Telstar and Métisse parted. Métisse bought their album back from Telstar...a rather gutsy move, and a gamble, but one that has proven to be inspirational, and the beginning of more success.

Soon after came one lucky break after another. Firstly, Madonna picked a Métisse song as title track to her movie "The Next Best Thing". Then came a list of successive licenses for high profile advertising campaigns, chart success, TV shows, the Olympic Games etc etc. Métisse themselves took on licensing their first album "My Fault" territory by territory around the world...an ambitious undertaking but again one which worked out very well. (Elsewhere on this site you will see listings of the great chart success which Métisse have enjoyed) Compilation album producers simply love the music of Métisse and the listing on the "compilations" page of this site is testimony to some of the success in this area.

So, where do Métisse go from here? The important thing for Skully and Aïda is always to do what they do best..make beautiful, intelligent and modern music that comes from the heart. They have achieved success on a risky venture but they have now proven just how "marketable" they are. The standard marketing formula did not apply but then it rarely does to products that are exceptional, no matter what industry you care to review. Things are going very well at present, who knows what the future holds. Skully and Aïda love what they do and hope they can inspire others or simply brighten up the day with their music.
